Cuban women's baseball team return to their homeland

Havana, May 16 (RHC)-- The Cuban women's baseball team, winners of the First Caribbean Cup that concluded in the Dominican Republic, was received Monday at Havana's José Martí International Airport by leaders of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).

The secretary general of the FMC, Teresa Amarelle, in her welcoming remarks congratulated the young women for the feat of winning the award and urged them to continue implementing women's baseball.

For his part, Raúl Fornés, first vice-president of INDER, said that this performance is a hope for our people in terms of the possibility of recovering good results for Cuban baseball at the international level.

Meanwhile, the president of the Cuban Baseball Federation, Reynaldo Pérez, and Margarita Mayeta, responsible for that sport among women, expressed their satisfaction for the gold medal in the Caribbean Series.
