Cuban U15 Baseball Team debuts against Peru in Dominican Republic

Havana, March 16 (PL) -- The Cuban U15 baseball team will debut today against Peru in the Pan American Championship of that category, which will be held in the Dominican Republic until March 22.

The opening of the tournament is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. local time at the Cincinnati Reds Complex in Baseball City, Boca Chica, where the 12 teams that are looking for one of the five slots for the World Cup will parade.

The ceremony will be followed by the Dominican Republic's first game against Argentina at 14:00 local time, according to a press release issued by the Pan American Baseball Confederation.

The Cuban team, under the direction of Alexander Urquiola, is placed in Group B, which also includes Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

The Caribbean island team will face Puerto Rico on March 17, Venezuela (18), Guatemala (19) and Nicaragua (20), according to the official schedule of the competition.

Group A includes Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Mexico and the host country.

According to the Pan American Baseball Confederation, six games will be played daily starting at 10:00 local time, and in the case of the host country all games were scheduled for the same time.

The top three teams in each group will qualify for the final round, to be held on Thursday 21, starting at 10:00 local time.

On that day, the third of group A and B will face each other for the best fifth place, the second of group A and B will face each other for the bronze medal, and the gold medal is set for 11:30 local time between the first of group A and B.
