Three teams achieved double victories in the 7th National Under-23 Baseball Series, on a day in which Matanzas pitcher Yamiel Deulofeo gave a zero-hit, zero-run game to the Cienfuegos team.

Havana, August 18 (RHC)-- Three teams achieved double victories in the 7th National Under-23 Baseball Series, on a day in which Matanzas pitcher Yamiel Deulofeo gave a zero-hit, zero-run game to the Cienfuegos team.

The Leones de La Habana won twice as visitors at the Cristóbal Labra stadium, with 11x6 and 6x2 wins over the Piratas de Isla de la Juventud.

The Cocodrilos de Matanzas also won twice against the Elefantes de Cienfuegos, with scores of 2x0 and 7x2. Yamiel's feat took place there from the mound. 

The reigning champions of Sancti Spíritus did the same against the Toros de Camagüey, beating them 7x3 and 3x0.

Guantánamo and Granma ended up dividing honors. The Indios won 6x0 and the Alazanes 2x1.

In the remaining games of the day, Pinar del Río smiled 5x0 against Artemisa, Ciego de Avila 1x0 against Las Tunas, Mayabeque 6x1 against Villa Clara, and Santiago de Cuba 3x0 against Holguín.

During the day, 142 hits were hit, 74 runs were scored and 20 defensive errors were committed.

As for the leaders, Havana is in the lead in group A, Villa Clara in group B, Las Tunas in group C and Santiago de Cuba in group D.

The teams have only three games left for the closing of the preliminary phase, except in key B, marked by several suspensions. Several of those matches may have to be made up.

Only the winners of each section will advance to the regional semifinals, the prelude to the grand final.
