Havana, October 25 (RHC)-- With Cubans Dylan Berdayes and Jerzy Jesus Perez as leaders of the Elite and Premier groups, the fifth round of the Andres Clemente Vazquez chess tournament, which is being held in the capital's Vedado Hotel, will be played today.

In the Elite section, Dylan reached three units after reaching a draw with his compatriot Omar Almeida, in just 15 moves of a Queen Pawn opening, and will now face Colombian Felipe Sanchez.

Dylan's escorts are Omar himself, together with Venezuelan Jorge Bobadilla and hosts Henry Soto and Luis Lázaro Agüero, with 2.5 units.

The latter won the previous day against local Alejandro García, while Bobadilla made peace with the experienced Juan Borges from Guantanamo and Soto defeated Mexican Néstor Cofre.

Things in the Premier are a little clearer with Jerzy owner of four straight wins, the most recent over the Guatemalan Sergio Miguel Garcia and his closest pursuer is still the Jamaican Shreyas Smith with three units.

Smith overcame the Mexican Ander Ivan Villalba the day before and enjoys the second position alone, ahead of the Cuban Osmel Garcia, who reached 2.5 points after winning over his fellow countryman Ronny Manuel Lafont.

This Tuesday Jerzy will move pieces against Cuban Felix Gomez, one of the veterans of the competition and who has 1.5 points.

Jamaican Smith will face Dominican Gian Carlos Arvelo (1 point) and Osmel will face Guatemalan Sergio Miguel (1 point).
