Havana, December 24 (RHC)-- INDER President Osvaldo Vento Montiller led the award ceremony of the José González Barros 2022 National Sports Journalism Contest on Friday.

The event took place in the Cuban Sports Hall, located in the Sports City Coliseum, in the presence of Ricardo Ronquillo, president of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC).

The jury, made up of prestigious professionals from different media, awarded prizes to filmmakers and journalists in several categories of the written press, radio, television and hypermedia.

In the photography category, photojournalists Calixto Llanes and Roberto Morejón, of INDER's digital newspaper JIT, were recognized.

Llanes, awarded for the work Desafío ciclístico en el Escambray (Cycling challenge in the Escambray), wanted to thank this media and his colleagues.

"First of all this is possible thanks to JIT, which has allowed me to cover the most important events at national and international level. I also want to highlight the support of my partner Lisset Ricardo because the final result of this material is the result of teamwork and also for the dedication of the mountain bike riders, the protagonists of this work," he said.

The closing words of the event were in charge of the president of Inder, who congratulated the winners and the sports press in general.

"When the enemies of the Cuban Revolution are determined to seek stains on our achievements, you always expose the many lights of our sport, which is one of the achievements in these 64 years of walking," he told those present.

"You are also part of the achievements of our sports system. You have been for a long time and you will be in a year with so many challenges for Cuban sport as 2023, which brings Central Caribbean Games, Pan American Games, the V World Baseball Classic and the world championships in different disciplines, in addition to qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games," concluded Vento Montiller.
