Havana, June 11 (RHC)-- With the two bronze medals won by Arley Calderon from Pinar del Rio in the last hours, Cuba will start with eight medals this fourth day of the Grand Prix of Weightlifting in Havana, Olympic qualifier for Paris 2024.

Calderon reached the podium thanks to a 161 kg in the repulsion, which added to 125 kg in the snatch, earned him the second bronze, for 286 kg in the biathlon, in the 61 kilograms (kg) bodyweight category.

Thus, Calderón entered for the moment, with the ninth place, in the qualification zone for the Paris 2024 Olympics, after having finished in the World Championship last December in eleventh place.

In Pabexpo, the Indonesian Ricko Saputra dominated the division with 134, 161 and 295 kg; while the American Hampton Morris was runner-up in rebound and total (166 and 290 kg).

Henadz Laptseu, from Belarus, who competed as an individual neutral athlete, won the silver medal in the snatch with 130 kg.

Today, the 73 and 67 kg men will compete for podiums, among the latter will be the Cuban Reydiel Herrera and the Colombians Francisco Mosquera (world gold and silver in December 2022 in Bogota) and Jhon Jairo Serna, bronze medalist in the same event but in the 61 kg category.
