Havana, December 27 (JIT)-- Cuban triple jumper Yargelis Savigne received her bronze medal corresponding to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

As established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the reassignment of her medal had to take place in a public act and she took advantage of the award gala for the best Cuban athletes in 2023, held on Tuesday at the Havana Sports City Coliseum.

Yargelis finished fifth in the triple jump competition in Beijing 2008, with 15.05 meters, but two doping cases took her to the podium in the subsequent period.

Roberto León Richards, head of the Cuban Olympic Committee, read the words of praise, in which he highlighted her prolific career and the congratulatory message from Thomas Bach, head of the IOC.

María Caridad Colón, IOC member, placed the medal on Yargelis' chest, accompanied by León Richards and the president of Inder, Osvaldo Vento Montiller.
