World medalists secure bronze in Giron Boxing

Sancti Spíritus, January 12 (JIT) - World bronze medalist Yosvany Veitía had a happy debut in the 57 kg, beating Osvaldo Díaz, and completed the unbeatable performance of the world medalists who tried to secure bronze on Thursday in the Playa Girón National Boxing Tournament.

Veitía, 52 kg champion in the previous Giron, sealed a 5-0 decision over a man who finished in bronze a year ago.

Cuba's ten-time champion joined the success of Tashkent 2023 world champions Alejandro Claro, Saidel Horta, and Erislandy Alvarez.

Horta, world silver medalist and Paris-2024 qualifier, had a ranked opponent in Cologne World Cup champion Rolando Martinez at 57 kg.
