Havana, March 27 (ACN) -- With an almost perfect performance of 6.5 points in seven rounds, Cuban Carlos Daniel Albornoz won the Easter blitz chess tournament in Tajamar, Spain.

Albornoz dominated without setbacks a tournament agreed with duels of three minutes plus two seconds of increment after each move and led the order ahead of the host Jorge Carrasco and the Cuban nationalized Panamanian Roberto Carlos Sanchez.

Both were in possession of five units, but by tiebreaker Carrasco achieved better final digits.

As a continuation of the preparation tour planned by the Camagüey-born Albornoz, the La Roda open will now be held, a tournament that celebrates its 50th edition with more than 200 registered players and several masters with more than 2,600 Elo points.

The games will begin this Wednesday and in addition to Albornoz, Jorge Roberto Elías and Lennis Martínez from Guantanamo will also represent the island, according to the initial list published at www.chess-results.com.

The main favorite for the crown will be India's Chithambaram Vr. Aravindh, who with 2,663 Elo units leads the pre-competition ranking.
