Varadero, April 8 (PL) - Boxer Jorge Cuellar has a very clear objective in his mind: to be part of the Cuban team that will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

There are still some quality opponents to qualify, but I feel ready to fight with the best, every day we train in my mind is to be part of those seven boxing warriors, he said.

On Friday, Cuellar won his fight in the poster held between the squads of Cuba and France, beating Makan Traoré by unanimous decision in the 71 kilogram division.

"He is already qualified for Paris and the goal was to fight him. I see myself in conditions to get the ticket, the coaches and psychologists have worked hard not only with me, but with everyone, and I am confident in our chances, we are going to give everything," he said.

In an exclusive dialogue with Prensa Latina, the fighter born in the central province of Sancti Spíritus added that the whole group is working towards the same goal, for which the base made in this city was very important.

The interest of the team is maximum, from the technical collective to the last athlete, everyone is super focused, this base has strengthened me personally because I could also measure myself against a quality Japanese, he said.

Cuellar will have his last chance to reach the place to Paris in the pre-Olympic tournament scheduled for next month in Thailand, where Cuba will also seek the quotas in 63.5 and over 92 kilos, as well as the 66 among ladies.
