National Soccer Tournament

Havana, Jun 25 (RHC) - The final of the Torneo Apertura (Opening Tournament) of the 108th National Soccer League will be played on July 12.

With the classification of Havana as a finalist, the protagonists of the final duel of the event were completed. The final match will take place at the Rogelio Palacios Stadium in Guantanamo.

The Titanes del Guaso (the team from Guantanamo), who had already secured their place in the competition, won the right to host the event by accumulating more points than the other top teams, with 27. Havana (Group A) managed to challenge them with 24 points, more than Cienfuegos (22) and Las Tunas (22), winners of Groups B and C, respectively.

The head of competitions of the National Soccer Commission, José Yulier Herranz, also confirmed that the playoff matches between the second places in each group will take place on July 5 and 9.

On the first day, Artemisa, second in Pool A, will host Villa Clara, runner-up in Pool B, at the Grandes Alamedas Stadium; Santiago de Cuba will also play against Ciego de Avila at the Antonio Maceo Stadium.

On the 6th, Artemiseños and Villaclareños will travel to Zulueta, and Avileños and Indómitos to Morón, to play the second leg on the 9th at the Camilo Cienfuegos and Sergio Alonso Grandal stadiums, respectively.

The winners will advance to the Torneo Cierre (Closing Tournament) of the 108th National Soccer League and will complete the six teams by adding the group leaders, who will qualify directly.

Herranz also reminded that the champion of the Apertura will play at the Supercopa de Fútbol de Cuba (Cuba’s Soccer Supercup) against the champion of the 108th National Soccer League, a title that will be won by the winner of the Closing Tournament.
