Havana, July 24 (RHC) - Cuban Yarisleidis Cirilo achieved the best time in her heat in the C1 200-meter event, qualifying directly for the A final of the Junior and Under-23 World Canoe Sprint Championships being held in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, until next Sunday.

With an impressive time of 45.88 seconds in the qualifying round, Cirilo is positioned as one of the favorites in the event, which features more than 1,700 competitors from 66 countries and is organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF).

The bronze medalist in the C1 200 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics is now competing in the under-23 category, and the competition will give her coach, Nelson Perales, the opportunity to assess his protégé's condition ahead of the 2025 World Canoe Sprint Championships in Milan, scheduled for August 20-24.
