Havana, July 26 (RHC) - The fourth and penultimate stage hosted the second best performance of the Cuba-Rali team in the Tour de Panamá, contributed by José Domínguez.
Domínguez secured fourth place in a sprint dominated by Jason Huertas (Manzaté) and the absolute leader, local Franklin Archibol (Senafront), who clocked 2:50.02 hours, the same time given to the massive peloton formed by 47 of the 129 riders remaining in the competition.
Randol Izquierdo also excelled by being included in that group and getting the tenth place, as well as Yadiel Hernández in 20th place to lead the youth and remain third in the classification of that category.
Thanks to the positions of Dominguez, Randol, and Yadiel, the Cuba Rally squad was the second most distinguished of the day and continues in fourth place among 21 teams when only the Saturday day remains, 10 laps (95 km) in a circuit in the coastal strip of the Panamanian capital.
Other Cubans who were involved this Friday were Ricardo Delgado, from HYF-Colombia (24th), Vicente Sanabria (33rd), Yariel de León (39th), and José Deza (41st), all from Cuba-Rali, and Amed Marcos (46th), who rides for City Bikes Miami.
After four rounds and 434.2 kilometers, Archibol is still in the lead with an accumulated time of 9:25.28 hours and almost all Cubans defended their positions obtained on Tuesday at the start.
Izquierdo remains in 13th place, as well as Domínguez (17th), Delgado (19th), and Marcos (20th), and improved Yariel de León (25th), Vicente Sanabria (29th), and the newcomer Hernández (38th).
In the U-13 category, Randol (third), Domínguez (fifth), and Narcos (seventh) also continued, the first two preparing to attend the Junior Pan American Games of Asunción 2025, scheduled for next month.
