Venezuela celebrates 210th anniversary of its Independence

Caracas, July 5 (RHC)--  Over the past week, the FANB deployed troops in the preparations for the civic-military parade scheduled for this Monday at the Paseo de los Proceres in Caracas, to commemorate one of the most significant events in the South American nation's independence feat.

Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino stressed the day before that this July 5 will be a splendorous day for the Venezuelan people, which has emerged victorious against the onslaught of systematic aggression.   In declarations to Venezolana de Televisión, Padrino highlighted the strength of the civil-military union and the cohesion of the military institution, which 210 years after the Declaration of Independence, continues along the path of freedom traced by Simón Bolívar and later continued by revolutionary leader Hugo Chávez.

After the Declaration of Independence proclaimed on April 19, 1810 by the Cabildo of Caracas, the first Venezuelan Congress was installed on March 2, 1811 with the representation of the provinces of Caracas, Cumaná, Barinas, Margarita, Mérida, Barcelona and Trujillo.

On July 5, 1811, the seven Venezuelan provinces declared their independence from the Crown of Spain, established a new nation based on republican and federal principles, and abolished the monarchy under the values of equality of individuals.

The Act enshrined the constitutional principle and radically opposed the political, cultural and social practices imposed during the 300 years of colonial rule in America.
