Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrived Thursday in Azerbaijan

Baku, June 16 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrived Thursday in Azerbaijan in the continuation of a tour of African and Asian nations to consolidate alliances and deepen cooperation relations.    He arrived at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in the Azeri capital, Baku, from the city of Doha, Qatar.

There he was received by the Venezuelan ambassador to that country, Christofer Martínez, and the deputy minister of International Relations of Azerbaijan, Elnur Israfil oglu Mammadov, among other authorities.

This is the second state visit of the Bolivarian leader to Azerbaijan, a country he already visited in October 2016, when, among other issues, he discussed with his counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, the need to stabilize the global oil market.   On Thursday morning, the Venezuelan President broadcast through his social networks: "These have been intense and successful days, new destinations have been added to the international work agenda. We are moved by the commitment for the new humanity and the welfare of our people. We continue consolidating victories! Attention!".

Venezuela celebrated last May 27th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan, which were consolidated with the opening, at the end of 2018, of a Caracas diplomatic legation in this Central Asian nation.

Before arriving in Azerbaijan, the Venezuelan president visited Türkiye, Algeria, Iran, Kuwait and Qatar. His trip is focused on expanding cooperation in the areas of energy and hydrocarbons, science and technology, agriculture, transportation, energy, tourism and culture.
