Ex-agents are prosecuted for crimes during the dictatorship in Argentina

Havana, April 4 (RHC) Judge Daniel Rafecas ordered preventive detention for five former agents of the former State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE) for crimes against humanity during the last civil-military dictatorship in Argentina.

According to the Télam agency, among the defendants is one of the SIDE directors, Patricio Miguel Finnen, and all of them face charges for crimes committed from 1976 to 1983 in clandestine extermination centers such as Automotores Orletti, Bacacay and Base Pomar.

The other defendants are César Estanislao Albarracín, Hugo Ángel Carlet, Luis Nelson González and Rubén Héctor Escobar, whose brother Enrique Osvaldo died before the judge ordered the arrest.

All are considered responsible for the illegal deprivation of liberty and subjecting 120 people to torture. In addition, they are implicated in the homicide of 23 citizens. They are also charged with the retention or concealment of five children under 10 years of age.

During the dictatorship, more than 30,000 people were detained, tortured, murdered, and disappeared. In addition, around 500 children were separated from their parents, given to military families, sold or abandoned. (Source: Prensa Latina)
