Caracas, April 25 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Monday that his country is awaiting the International Conference convened by his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, from which he demanded the lifting of all sanctions.

During the live broadcast of the second program "Con Maduro +," on television and radio, the head of state considered the meeting, to be held tomorrow with the attendance of 20 countries, to be a "risky move," which he estimated could be carried out and wished the greatest success.

He recalled that his Executive proposed a respectful national dialogue and highlighted the dialogue vocation of the Bolivarian, Chavista (of former President Hugo Chávez) and socialist government during the years of the Revolution, in which all the actors of the different national and international political spectrums were discussed.

In these 10 years, I have called for national dialogue on more than a thousand occasions, always in terms of peace, prosperity and recovery of Venezuela, and now we are going to this episode (Colombia) and I wish Petro the best of luck, he underlined.

Maduro emphasized that this Conference is for the respect of the sovereignty, independence and self-determination of Venezuela and its people, which aims at seeking the lifting of all sanctions, "without conditions of any kind", he remarked.   We do not accept less from this meeting, the lifting of all sanctions, "we do not accept or compromise for less", he stressed.

Regarding tomorrow's meeting, the President of the National Assembly Jorge Rodríguez expressed that the most important element of this meeting has to do with "verifying" if this so-called international community is not going to succumb to ambivalence as they have done in other opportunities.

He pointed out that the speeches say that they support the dialogue among Venezuelans, but in their execution "they act in a completely different way" and exemplified with the social agreement reached on November 26, 2022 in Mexico with the self-styled Unitary Platform, for three thousand 200 million dollars.

The also head of the national dialogues of the Bolivarian Republic explained that this money, administered through a fund by the United Nations, was to obtain the recovery of assets illegally retained by financial institutions and foreign governments.

He explained that not four days later, James Story, who serves as ambassador of the Government of Narnia, sent a letter to the UN prohibiting the establishment of this social fund.

Rodriguez stated that Venezuela has five points to be taken in order to promote dialogue among Venezuelans and move forward so that the political, social and electoral panorama may take place within normal conditions.
