Buenos Aires Jul 11 (RHC) The electoral ban begins this Friday in Argentina as part of the schedule for the primary, open, simultaneous and mandatory elections (PASO) on Sunday.

From 08:00 local time today until 21:00 on the 13th it will be forbidden to carry out acts of proselytism, publish and disseminate polls and open party premises located within a radius of 80 meters from the polling places.

Voters' meetings, shows, parties, sports activities or the sale of alcoholic beverages will not be allowed either.

In addition, the carrying of weapons, the use of flags, badges or other insignia will be penalized.

More than 35 million 394 thousand citizens of the 24 jurisdictions of this country are summoned to go to the polling stations in the PASO, in which 22 formulas of 15 fronts will participate.

The appointment is the previous step to be able to compete in the general elections of October 22, for which the candidates must obtain more than 1.5 percent of the valid votes.

Argentines will define who will represent the formed alliances within two months, among which Unión por la Patria (UP), Juntos por el Cambio (Together for Change) and the ultra-right-wing La Libertad Avanza (Freedom Forward) stand out.

On Wednesday, several parties suspended their campaign closing events due to the death of an 11-year-old girl after being assaulted by two motorcycle thieves in Lanús, in the province of Buenos Aires.

The day before, the Minister of Economy and UP presidential pre-candidate, Sergio Massa, urged citizens to vote in peace in defense of the homeland and reminded that two models of country are being discussed. (Source: PL)
