Caracas, August 28 (RHC)-- Thousands of Venezuelans mobilized over the weekend in massive acts of support to the government of President Nicolás Maduro, in favor of peace and in rejection of the unilateral restrictive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union.

Militants and followers of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), workers, peasants, women and youth offered their support to his government and its development strategy through popular events convened under the slogan "United we are more."

Images and videos of such mobilizations, which took place in Sucre, Trujillo, Monagas, Nueva Esparta, Yaracuy, among other states, were disseminated through social networks.

In messages disseminated through social networks, the Venezuelan President praised the commitment of the people and their unity. In one of them, he stated that the mobilizations show the people's willingness to fight and move forward, an aspect he considered an insurmountable obstacle for imperialism.

On the other hand, he supported the call of the Bolivarian forces for the country to continue on the path of peace, to which the election by the National Assembly of the National Electoral Council, installed this Friday, contributed substantially.

During a combative mobilization in La Guaira, the day before, the First Vice-President of the PSUV, Diosdado Cabello expressed: "Today we cling to peace, to the hope of building a dignified future for this Homeland, to recover the state of human welfare that (Hugo) Chávez gave us".

The political leader also pointed out that, in spite of the transparency in the selection of the NEC and the social-political backing that this process aroused, representatives of the opposition are already criticizing it. Cabello affirmed: "They were used to control those organisms, and without votes, they want to win the presidency of the Republic, they want to have a result that is credible for the gringos".

Venezuela is facing more than 900 unilateral restrictive measures, which deprived that nation and its people of millionaire incomes. T ey were imposed as of 2019 by the U.S. and the European Union to politically destabilize the country and implode it.

According to the calculation of U.S. and European imperialism, the change of government that this situation would generate would allow the right wing to regain power and hegemonic nations to regain access to oil, gold and other wealth belonging to the people.  The UN recognized that the sanctions seriously violate the human rights of Venezuelans.
