Geneva, May 6 (RHC)-- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has sounded the alarm about the psychological suffering facing the children in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli regime forces attacks on the defenseless people trapped on the besieged enclave.

“Children in Gaza are suffering devastating levels of stress,” UNRWA said in a statement posted on X social media platform on Saturday.  “UNRWA team is working with children and adolescents to mitigate the impact of the horrors of war,” it said.  And the statement adds: “Our counselors offer them hope and comfort.”

The UN agency emphasized, “We have to protect their present and their future.” “Ceasefire Now!”

The relief agency for Palestinian refugees earlier released photos showing the damage caused by the Israeli regime forces relentless attacks since October 2023.  Meanwhile, amid fears of an Israeli invasion, most residents of Gaza have fled their homes and gathered at UN refugee camps set up in the southern city of Rafah, bordering Egypt.

The Israeli regime has reportedly ruled out the possibility of ending its nearly seven-month-long genocidal war on Gaza despite ongoing ceasefire talks in Egypt as the occupying entity persists in invading the densely-populated southern city of Rafah.

“There is no safety in Gaza,”  UNRWA wrote in another post on X. "Palestinians are scared of the nights, and what tomorrow could bring for them.  “They are very scared if more military action will happen. Scared if they’ll be displaced again,” UNRWA further noted.

The Israeli regime forces launched Tel Aviv's genocidal war on the defenseless Palestinians trapped in the besieged Gaza Strip on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas Resistance group carried out a retaliatory operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the innocent Palestinian people.

Since October, tens-of-thousands of Palestinians have been killed and many more wounded in the Israeli attacks. The regime forces have also cut off fuel, electricity, food, water and communications to the more than two million Palestinians residents of the Gaza Strip, making the sufferings of the people trapped there, especially the children, to rise to traumatic levels.
