Philadelphia, August 17 (RHC)-- Five months after being rushed to the hospital, new medical tests show that U.S. political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal has active Hepatitis C. But, according to his supporters, prison officials are refusing to treat him for it.

Activists in support of Mumia Abu-Jamal say that while he has suffered lethal blood sugar levels and renal failure, he continues to have debilitating skin rashes, open wounds and swelling across his lower extremities.

A public campaign is underway to bring Mumia Abu-Jamal back to health. Supporters are calling on people around the world to write to prison authorities and demand that Mumia Abu-Jamal receive the necessary medical treatment.
