Havana, March 26 (RHC) The Cuban State Security Organs marked their 55th anniversary fully involved in fighting crime and supporting activities in keeping with the ongoing economic and social transformations in the country.

A letter by Interior Minister Abelardoo Colome, was read at a ceremony held at Havana´s Karl Marx Theater by Osvaldo Hernandez, a representative of the Cuban Counter-intelligence General Direction. The communication said that current realities require higher ideological and professional preparation, as well as ethics that favor everyday, intelligent, fair and firm action.

It is crucial to make efforts aimed at strengthening working systems, increasing motivation, discipline, control and the saving of material and financial resources, the letter read, and noted that it is also critical to strengthen unity with state institutions, the government, social organizations and with the people, who are the main protagonists of their own victories.

The letter also addressed both the positive results and the inefficiencies in the work of the institutions in their efforts to advance in tune with current realities that demand more effective performances.

The political ceremony was attended by First Vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel, Revolution Commander Ramiro Valdes, among several government officials, and the anti-terrorist fighters and Heroes of the Republic of Cuba Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez.

On behalf of the State Security Organs, Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro, as well as Ramiro Valdes and Abelardo Colome were awarded distinctions for being founders of the institution.
