Havana, March 30 (RHC) – Deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power Gerardo Hernández says that the U.S. government is diverting attention from its domestic problems and  focusing on other countries.

¨We see a lot of internal problems that the Donald Trump government has, scandals, judicial accusations and investigative processes. And yet, for them it is very easy to divert attention from public opinion and redirect it to other areas,¨ Hernández told Prensa Latina.

Hernandez is one of the Cuban anti-terrorism fighters known wolrdwide as the Cuban Five. He is currently the vice dean of the Institute of International Relations in Havana and deputy to the Cuban parliament.

The Cuban official pointed out that the Trump administration is dangerous and unpredictable  and that it is intent on reversing the rapprochement process with Cuba initiated by his predecessor,  Barack Obama. in December 2014.

¨The resurgence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade - imposed on the island for almost 60 years - has been a constant in Trump's policy since his arrival to the White House," he stated.

The Cuban deputy noted that in recent months actions have included applying with greater force the Helms-Burton Act, desinged to achieve regime change in cuba through economic strangulation.
