Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo

Havana, September 5 (RHC)-- The members of the National Leadership of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) approved the release for renewal of comrade Carlos Rafael Miranda Martínez from his responsibility as National Coordinator,  in which he had served for more than nine years.

Comrade Miranda Martínez was recognized for his upward trajectory in the organization, his constancy, and his dedication. He will be assigned other tasks.

Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, who served as vice National Coordinator, was elected National Coordinator of the CDR organization.

Gerardo, 55 years old, has a degree in International Relations. He is a Hero of the Republic of Cuba and has a fruitful political and revolutionary career,

He served an internationalist mission in the People's Republic of Angola, where he stood out for his courage and determination in several battle missions. He has been decorated with the medals of Internationalist Combatant and For the Friendship Cuba-People's Republic of Angola and the Playa Girón Order.

In the mid-nineties, he served missions in the United States, aimed at preventing terrorist actions against Cuba, and was one of the Cuban Five.  After serving more than 16 years of unjust imprisonment in that country, he returned to the Homeland in 2014. He has a high level of recognition and standing among the Cuban people. He is a member of the National Assembly of People's Power in its 9th Legislature.

Vladimir Sauri Bermúdez was elected Vice National Coordinator, until now Provincial Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution in Havana.

Vladimir, 46 years old, has a degree in Primary Education and has spent more than 25 years in various responsibilities in the organization, including Provincial Coordinator in Sancti Spíritus, Department Head, and Member of the National Secretariat.

He is a graduate of the Specialty in Security and National Defense and a Deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power in

its 9th Legislature.

The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, comrade José Ramón Machado Ventura, participated in the meeting of the National Secretariat, enlarged, of the CDR, where the voting, which was carried out, by the rest of the members of the National Directorate, in their provinces of residence, culminated.
