Havana, June 25 (RHC)-- Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel blasted the recent approval by the House of Representatives of the United States of some 32 million dollars for the promotion of subversion and regime change on the island.

“The interference, the threats and the imperial pretentions against the Cuban Revolution remain,” Diaz-Canel said on Twitter on Tuesday.

According to an article by journalist Tracey Eaton on the Cuba Money Project website, the  House of Representatives passed last week a $982.8 billion spending package that includes $20 million for “democracy promotion” in Cuba and $12,973,000 for Radio and TV Martí.

The spending would cover fiscal year 2020, which runs from Oct. 1, 2019, through Sept. 30, 2020.

The House Committee on Appropriations also included a request that the Secretary of State provide a timeline for the return of U.S. diplomats to the embassy in Havana.

Alleging “sonic attacks” without providing any concrete evidence, the Trump Administration ordered a drastic staff reduction in its Embassy in Havana, forcing Cubans seeking US visas to travel to third countries.
