Havana, November 29 (RHC)-- Suriname's president, Desiré Delano Bouterse, will make an official visit to Cuba starting December 2, during which he will hold official talks with Cuban authorities and conduct other activities.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cuba and the South American nation celebrated four decades of diplomatic ties in May of this year and coincide on international issues and the regional agenda as part of the island's close ties with members of the Caribbean Community.

Suriname has always supported the resolution presented by Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly, a document that demands every year the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on it by the United States for almost 60 years.

The Surinamese president has visited Cuba on several occasions, among others, to attend the II Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (2014), the VII Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (2016), and that same year for the funeral of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.
