Cuban president congratulates Silvio Rodríguez on his 74th birthday

Havana, November 29 (RHC)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated today, through his Twitter account, the renowned Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodríguez on his 74th birthday.  "Our admiration, affection and love," the president wrote.

Silvio Rodríguez is one of Cuba's best known musicians internationally for his songs framed within the Nueva Trova movement along with Pablo Milanés, Noel Nicola and Vicente Feliú.

With more than four decades of musical career, he has written at least 560 songs and recorded twenty albums.

He has a long career as a singer-songwriter inside and outside the island for which he has received numerous awards including the National Music Award (2004) and Doctor Honoris Causa degrees in some Latin American universities.

Among his most relevant records are Días y flores (1975), Al final de este viaje (1978), Mujeres (1978), Rabo de nube (1980) and Unicornio (1982).
