Havana, December 5 (RHC)--"The Cuban Minister of Culture will not meet with people who have direct contact and receive funding, logistical support, and propaganda support from the U.S. government and its officials," the vice president of the branch, Fernando Rojas, said in Havana.

In a press conference, Rojas referred to the causes that motivated the publication of a public declaration by the Ministry of Culture on Friday, responding to media manipulation instrumented by the so-called San Isidro Movement.

The declaration is the result of an email message sent to him by one of the participants of the meeting that took place on the night of November 27 in the Ministry's facilities.

The email message demanded that the list of participants --one of the agreements made on the 27th--was not negotiable and that the meeting be publicly acknowledged as being held because of the demands, and that it be held not only with the Minister of Culture but also with the President,  with the participation of media financed by U.S. federal agencies to attack the Cuban government.

The list of 30 persons who were demanded unconditional access to the agreed meeting included names of individuals who, according to Rojas, "have long since excluded themselves because of their aggressions against the patriotic symbols, common crimes and frontal attacks on the leadership of the Cuban Revolution.

He said that despite the extraordinary circumstances, the authorities decided to proceed to the dialogue that night, motivated by the respect for the concerns and demands of the young people linked to art. Since then they have been waiting for the other meeting agreed upon with the agreed conditions.

Rojas emphasized that the declaration does not represent a "denial of our absolute obligation to Cuban creators, particularly to young people," with whom the contact is constant to give continuity to the evaluation of the agreements of the congresses of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
