Havana, Apr 10 (RHC) -- The Ministry of Culture (Mincult) has reported that, as part of the measures adopted to confront the coronavirus outbreak, the Cuban Music Institute and the National Performing Arts Council will offer salary support to all artists from their respective catalogs.

The benefit applies to both those belonging to the subsidized artistic units and those who operate under a commercial system and that, due to current social isolation regulations, are unable to do their work. The decision, explains the Mincult note, will imply basic salary coverage beginning in April (to be paid in early May) and will work through the usual payment mechanisms of the different centers, councils and provincial and national music and performing arts institutions and companies. The measure is proof that Cuba will not leave its artists behind, who in complex days like these are offering their art in different ways, mainly online and through the social media.
