Cuba reports 1,040 COVID-19 cases and nine deaths

Havana, April 16 (RHC)-- Cuban health authorities reported on Friday 1,040 new cases of Covid-19 and nine deaths in the last 24 hours

The country has thus reached 91,448 diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and 500 deaths since March 2020.

A total of 4,750 positive cases remained hospitalized as of midnight.

In a televised press conference, the national director of Epidemiology, Francisco Durán, said that 22,418 samples were studied on Thursday to diagnose the disease.

Havana reported 566 cases. Matanzas was second with 154, and Santiago de Cuba with 86.  The provinces with the fewest cases were Las Tunas and Camaguey, each one reported one case.
