Havana, June 30 (RHC) -- The health intervention with the Cuban anti-Covid-19 vaccine candidate Abdala concluded on Wednesday n the special municipality of the Isle of Youth, with 95.6 percent of the administration of the three doses to 52,866 people.

The immunogen was applied to most of the local population - aged 19 and over - supposedly healthy or under control of any diseases they may suffer from, local sources said.

According to medical reports, the population attended with discipline to the more than 30 clinical sites set up. For 14 consecutive days, the territory has not reported any new positive cases of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes Covid-19.

In clinical trials, after applying the three-dose formulation, the Abdala vaccine candidate has an efficacy of 92.28 percent, which places it well above the World Health Organization's requirement for a Covid-19 vaccine to be declared as such, which must have at least 50 percent efficacy
