Cuba reports 8 509 new COVID-19 cases and 96 deaths

Havana, Aug 26 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported on Thursday  8,509 new cases of Covid-19 in the country and 96 deaths.

In his daily appearance on Cuban TV, the national director of Epidemiology, Francisco Durán, said that since March 2020 to date, 619,672 citizens have contracted COVID-19, and 4902 have died.

Regarding pediatric cases, he commented that 1,816 were detected in the last hours, among them 135 children under one year old and 59 less than six months old.

The territories reporting the highest number of infections were Holguin with 1220, Havana with 874, and   Pinar del Rio with 672.

The epidemiologist said that 12 852,801 doses of the Soberana 02, Soberana Plus, and Abdala vaccines have been administered in the Caribbean island through health intervention mechanisms, intervention studies, and clinical trials.
