Cuban Foreign Minister holds meeting with Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Boston

Havana, September 8 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla held a meeting on Wednesday with U.S. Cardinal Sean Patrick O'Malley, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Boston, who is visiting Cuba.

According to the Foreign Ministry website, Rodriguez expressed his gratitude for the pronouncements of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops which, on more than one occasion, has expressed itself in favor of improving bilateral relations with Cuba. He gave His Eminence an update on the situation and plans of Cuba in various spheres, the positive results of the Cuban vaccines, and addressed the negative impact of U.S. economic blockade, intensified precisely in the context of the Covid19 pandemic.

Cardinal O'Malley was accompanied by Giampiero Gloder, apostolic nuncio of His Holiness in Cuba.

Also in attendance were Caridad Diego Bello, head of the Office of Religious Affairs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Carlos Fernández de Cossío, director-general for the United States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
