Paris, Sep 17 (RHC) Diplomatic sources informed Prensa Latina this Friday, that Members of the Democratic and Republican Left group in the French National Assembly and Senate adopted a Declaration of support for Socialist Cuba.

The Declaration was delivered to the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González, during the parliamentary sessions of the French communists, held in the city of Boulazac, in the southwest of the country.

The text reiterates the full solidarity with Cuba and recognizes the efforts made on the island to face the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the results of the Cuban vaccines and the international solidarity deployed by the Caribbean country in the current world sanitary context.

The deputies and senators condemned the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States and demanded its immediate lifting, denouncing the media campaigns and destabilization maneuvers against the Cuban Revolution.

They denounced the plan taking place in the European Parliament, trying to hinder the good relations between Havana, the European Union and its Member States, and called on the French government to consolidate and develop cooperative relations with the island.

Gonzalez, deputy and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, thanked the French elected officials for the support and solidarity of the French Communist Party (PCF) and its militants to the Cuban Revolution.

The event was attended by Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the French Communist Party and candidate for this political force to the presidential elections of April 2022, Pierre Laurent, vice-president of the Senate, and the deputy André Chassaigne, president of the group in the National Assembly (parliament).

The day before, the president of ICAP met with members and directors of the Cuba Linda Solidarity Association, in the city of Periguex, who ratified their commitment to continue the battle for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island. (PL)
