Cuba reports five deaths and 898 positive cases of COVID-19 in past 24 hours

Havana, February 13 (RHC)-- Cuba's Ministry of Public Health reported this Sunday 898 positive samples for COVID-19 and 5 deaths in the last 24 hours.

At the end of yesterday, February 12, a total of 13,778 patients had been admitted, 8,862 were suspected, 107 were under surveillance and 4,809 were confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 15,279 samples were taken for surveillance during the day, and 898 were positive. The country accumulated 12,894,594 samples taken and 1,060,732 were positive.

Of the total number of cases (898): 871 were contacts of confirmed cases; 20 with source of infection abroad; 7 with no source of infection specified. Of the 898 diagnosed cases, 500 were female and 398 male.

Of the 898 positive cases, 10.0% (90) were asymptomatic, making a total of 144,362 cases, representing 13.6% of those confirmed to date.

The 898 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (205), 20 to 39 years of age (253), 40 to 59 years of age (239) and over 60 (201).

Of the 1,060,732 patients diagnosed with the disease, 4,809 remain hospitalized, 4,768 of them with stable clinical evolution, two evacuated, 57 returned to their countries, 1,083 discharged during the day, and 1,047,392 patients have recovered (98.7%). There are 41 confirmed patients in intensive care, of which 20 are critical and 21 severe.

During the day, 5 patients died. We deeply regret what happened and we convey our condolences to their families and friends.
We have accumulated 8,472 deaths (5 during the day), with a mortality rate of 0.80% vs. 1.42% in the world and 1.79% in the Americas.

As of February 12, 192 countries and 32 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 410 million 6,774 confirmed cases (+ 2 million 308,678), 73 million 877,905 active cases and 5 million 824,455 deaths (+ 11,846) for a case fatality rate of 1.42% (-0.01).

In the Americas, 144 million 728 thousand 88 confirmed cases (+ 499 thousand 138) were reported, 35.30% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 34 million 586 thousand 792 active cases and 2 million 596 thousand 868 deaths (+ 5 thousand 472) for a case fatality rate of 1.79% (-0.01).
