Solidarity group in Spain reiterates support for Cuba and its socialist model

Valencian Association of Friendship with Cuba

Valencia, October 14 (RHC)-- The president of the Valencian association of friendship with Cuba José Martí, Rocío Raya Galvin, reiterated today the support for the Caribbean island and its socialist model.

Raya Galvin, who heads the organizing committee of the XVI National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Spain, which will be inaugurated tonight in the Valencian city of Puerto Sagunto, stressed to Prensa Latina, the relevance of the event in its renewed stance of rejection of the US blockade.

He explained that the event under the title "Cuba, Revolution of Solidarity", has among its objectives to demonstrate once again that the largest of the Antilles is not alone and to express at the same time the absolute support to the socialist model of the Caribbean nation.

This time we have the participation of more than 130 delegates from all over Spain, together with a Cuban delegation from various fields, science, history, culture, journalism and representatives of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Raya Galvin explained.

He specified that throughout the weekend there will be talks open to Valencian citizens, musical concerts against the economic blockade of Cuba, exhibitions and workshops to strengthen bilateral ties.

Among the topics on the agenda of the meeting are the design of new solidarity campaigns to help in extreme situations, such as Hurricane Ian or the accidents at the supertanker terminal in Matanzas and at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana.

Likewise, communication strategies in social networks, validity of Fidel Castro's thought and Cuban women will be in the meeting of the State Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MESC), whose opening remarks will be in charge of Ambassador Marcelino Medina.

Medina, accompanied by the vice-president of the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Noemí Rabaza, will preside over the beginning of the event, which will also include a discussion on the theme "Fidel's thought: from Biran to the present", with intellectuals Ignacio Ramonet and Pascual Serrano.

On Saturday, two talks will be held, the first one "At the forefront of socialism: creative resistance of feminism and youth in Cuba", with Elier Ramirez, deputy director of the Fidel Castro Center and deputy of the National Assembly, and Belinda Sanchez, scientist of the Molecular Immunology Center and developer of the Cuban vaccine Soberana.

Also, "Lies and truths about Cuba in the information society", with journalists Pascual Serrano, Rosa Miriam Elizalde, vice-president of the Union of Cuban Journalists and Ignacio Ramonet, author of the book "One Hundred Hours with Fidel". The panel will be moderated by José Manzaneda, coordinator of cubainformacion.tv. The opening of the exhibition "Fidel Castro: An intimate portrait" by Alex Castro Soto del Valle, and the presentation of the Collaborative Mural against the blockade, by illustrator and muralist Javier Parra, will follow.
