Cuban Government expresses condolences to Indonesia for earthquake victims

Two hours after the first tremor, up to 25 aftershocks of the earthquake were registered.

Havana, Nov 21 (RHC) On Monday, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed condolences to the people and government of Indonesia for the loss of human lives and damage caused by the earthquake that hit West Java.

In his Twitter profile, the foreign minister extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the 5.6 Richter scale earthquake, which shook the city of Cianjur, the most populated province of that Southeast Asian country (with almost 50 million inhabitants).

Local authorities warned that the number of victims could increase in the coming hours due to the number of missing people.

 


According to the U.S. Geological Survey, two hours after the first tremor, up to 25 aftershocks were recorded from the earthquake that struck at a depth of 10 kilometers.
 


Cianjur, the city closest to the epicenter, is inhabited by almost 170 thousand people (Source: PL).
