Cuban President participates in the constitution of municipal assembly in Santa Clara

Santa Clara, Dec 17 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel attended today the constitution of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power in Santa Clara, in an act where the leadership of the body was elected.

 

As deputy to the Parliament for the municipality of Santa Clara, the Cuban president went to the theater of the Marta Abreu Central University, the venue of this process that began at 10:00 local time, simultaneously with the rest of the 168 municipalities in the country.

 

The president of the electoral council, Ramón Palleiro, explained to those present the voting process for the position of president and other responsibilities of this territory of about 238 thousand inhabitants, characterized by its cultural square, the industrial and scientific enclave, and the Ernesto Guevara memorial, which keeps the remains of the Argentine-Cuban commander.

 

Palleiro accredited the 111 delegates elected in the November 27 elections and gave them the seal that authorizes them to exercise their government functions in their respective districts of this capital of the Cuban province of Villa Clara.

 

The Municipal Assemblies of People's Power are constituted this Saturday as the highest local bodies of State power.

 

Consequently, they are vested with the highest authority to exercise state functions in those scenarios. (Source: PL)
