Havana, January 10 (RHC) The need to continue, encourage and invigorate the mobilization of actions by the scientific-technical community through the exchange of opinions, assessing problems and possible solutions from different angles and visions that contribute to economic, social, cultural, and educational development, was ratified on Monday during the celebration of the 230th anniversary of the Economic Society Friends of the Country (SEAP).

Born in the heat of the renovating ideas of the European Enlightenment during the 18th century, this organization also faces among its challenges the improvement of its communicational activity, through the elaboration and implementation of a social communication strategy.

At the General Meeting of SEAP held this Monday, which assessed the work done by the entity in the last four months, its reelected president, Zoila Benítez, also mentioned, among other projections, the increase of advice in public policies of the country.

Benítez also aims to modernize technological equipment, strengthen the computerization of SEAP and foster the international relations of this NGO, particularly with similar institutions in Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

SEAP’s social task is to mobilize the scientific-technical community under the objectives set by the Cuban Revolution.

It also fosters the exchange and plural debate to form criteria on issues related to the promotion of education, science, culture, and environmental protection. (Source: PL)
