Santiago de Chile, Feb 6 (RHC) A week of tributes to Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, concluded in Chile with a march to the statue of the independence hero, located in the Yungay neighborhood of this capital.

Organized by the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, the walk began at the Plaza Brasil and ended at Portales Park, where several speakers highlighted the validity of the Apostle's thoughts and work.

Speaking at the event, Héctor Medina, community leader and member of the Communist Party, referred to Martí's anti-imperialist ideology and recalled that he inspired the Cuban Revolution.

This homage to the independence hero takes place in the year in which the 50th anniversary of the coup d'état in Chile is commemorated and it is also an opportunity to remember the figure of the president of the Popular Unity, Salvador Allende, he said.
