Cuba will present a team to the Pan American Cocktail Championship

Havana, Aug 24 (RHC) Authorities from the Cuban tourism sector confirmed this Thursday the attendance of a team at the Pan-American Cocktail Championship, to be held next September in the Dominican Republic.

The president of the Cuban Bartenders Association, Eddis Naranjo, commented that a Cuban delegation made up of six bartenders and three representatives of Havana Club International S.A. will attend the Championship that will be held from September 5 to 7, in Santo Domingo.

Naranjo explained that the competition will take place in the Amber Room of the Dominican Fiesta Hotel, in Santo Domingo.

The manager announced that the bartenders Joel Hernández Pons, from Varadero, Matanzas, will compete in free style or flair, and José Luis Rubín Hernández, from Camagüey, in classic style.

Naranjo explained that in this contest, the best cocktail talents in the region come together, competing in various categories to show their skill, creativity and passion for the art of mixing drinks and creating cocktails. He also recalled that Cuba already has a continental champion, the bartender Yardo Lázaro González, who won the 10th Santiago Policastro Pan-American Cocktail Cup, held in August 2006 in Lima, Peru, by proposing his drink Ocaso, based on Cuban rum.
