Havana, September 8 (RHC) --The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel attended Friday at Casa de las Américas, in Havana, the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the coup d'état against the government of Salvador Allende in Chile (September 11).

Upon his arrival at the prestigious institution, Diaz-Canel toured the exhibition "Chile in Posters: Memory and Resistance", which brings together five decades of posters to make visible the struggle of that people against fascism and imperialism.

The President was accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the CC-PCC; Rogelio Polanco, member of the CC-PCC Secretariat and head of the Ideological Department; and Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as other government representatives.

The coup d'état in Chile, in 1973, took the life of constitutional president Salvador Allende, overthrew his Popular Unity Government, and installed a dictatorial regime in that country, led by General Augusto Pinochet.
