Havana, October 30 (RHC) -- The French association 'Cuba Linda' demanded Monday that the U.S. government lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island, a policy it described as genocidal because of its human consequences.

In a statement dated in Paris and shared with Prensa Latina news agency, the organization that promotes trips to the Antillean nation to learn about its reality, considered the siege applied by Washington for more than 60 years one of the cruelest acts of the hybrid war against the Caribbean country and its Revolution.

"This is a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of a people who chose a socialist system that is more just, equitable and supportive, and not subjected to the capitalist interests of its northern neighbor," he stressed.

Cuba Linda', created in 1998, highlighted two events that will take place this month: the vote on November 1 and 2 for the thirty-first time in the UN General Assembly (UNGA) of a resolution on the need to put an end to the blockade, and the international tribunal against that measure, which will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on November 16 and 17.

The solidarity organization urged the member states of the UN to vote in favor of the resolution against the blockade, an initiative similar to that which the international community has categorically supported in the UNGA since 1992.
