Cuba and Russia reach agreements in the area of ​​biotechnology through Cuban companies BioCubaFarma and Labiofam, and Russian joint stock company Phitovit

 

Havana, Dec 7 (RHC) Representatives of the state group BioCubaFarma and the company Labiofam signed today a memorandum with the Russian joint stock company Phitovit for cooperation in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical spheres.

The agreement took place at the Moscow 2023 Health Fair, where Cuba is represented by a large group of scientists and technological developers from the entities related to the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group.

The agreement is aimed at having complete cooperation in all phases of the veterinary drug development cycle, whether made in Cuba or jointly developed, produced and marketed, as declared by Idania Caballero, director of the BioCubaFarma office in Moscow.

In this sense, she explained that this agreement will allow expanding bilateral ties in the scientific-technical area, especially in recombinant vaccine projects for use not only in domestic animals, but also for those with economic interest.

For his part, Alejandro González, director of business and exports of the Cuban business group Labiofam, also signed an agreement with Phitovit with the purpose of establishing cooperative production.

Tusupov Omarzhan, general director of the Phitovit joint stock company, highlighted the boom that Cuban biotechnology has had for more than 30 years, with enormous potential to partner to establish technology transfer.

After the signing of the memoranda, Cuban ambassador in Moscow Julio Garmendía stated that the entities involved have ample potential for the supply of different components to increase the production of medicines with cutting-edge technologies.

Cuba has participated in the Moscow Health Fair for four years, the largest medical care project in Russia, where various initiatives such as international trade fairs, congresses, forums, conferences and other events are deployed.

The fair, which will conclude tomorrow, involves 15 countries and has the support of the Russian authorities and Government, legislative, federal and regional executive bodies in health care, manufacturing industry and tourism. (Source: PL)
