Cuba convenes International Biennial of Political Humor

Havana, Jan 25 (RHC) The 1st International Biennial of Political Humor will take place in Havana from June 1 to 30, 2024.

The Ministry of Culture, the National Council of Plastic Arts and the magazine La Jiribilla, from Cuba, invite artists, illustrators, caricaturists and comedians from all over the world to participate.

The text published on Internet by the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba indicates that the event seeks to explore in a playful way the impact of globalization and the phenomena associated with it, from a perspective of political humor, while the central theme will be directed at the fight against neo-fascism.

The works, in digital format, must be sent by email to bienalhumorpoliticocuba@gmail.com, and the attached files must be delivered in JPG format, with a resolution of 300 dpi and no less than 2400 pixels on the longest side. Likewise, the files sent must be identified with the author's data (in addition to the stage name), country, title, home address, email and telephone number.

The selected works will be printed and exhibited in the main exhibition and collateral exhibitions of the biennial.

They may also be published in promotional materials and catalogs of the event, always with the name of the creator and respecting intellectual property rights.

The deadline for receiving works is February 28 of this year. An international jury will grant an Honor Award to a graphic humor personality in the world. In addition, three prizes will be awarded.

During the contest there will be an exhibition that will bring together the most outstanding and representative works, selected by a group of specialists.

As part of the Biennial, a theoretical event will address problems related to the work of graphic comedians in general and, in particular, linked to its central theme. (Source: PL)
