Havana, September 25 (RHC)-- President Raul Castro has sent a letter of acknowledgement to the members of Cuba’s Contemporary Dance Ensemble (DCC), a company marking on Thursday the 55th anniversary of its founding by maestro Ramiro Guerra.

In the letter, Raul refers to the period when the group was created in 1959 and how it stands out among the most important events of its specialty. He also noted that the dance ensemble has represented the Caribbean island in dozens of tours of Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

The dance company, adds the letter, has created an innovative dance language in the roots identifying its people and is part of the avant-garde of Cuban revolutionary culture.

Culture Minister Julian Gonzalez handed the letter to DCC director Miguel Iglesias, who expressed his gratitude for such a high honor and announced future national and international tours of the Contemporary Dance Ensemble.
