Egyptian Health Minister Wants to Collaborate with Cuba

Cairo, January 16 (RHC-PL) –- Egyptian Health Minister Adel El Adawy appraised the relevant departments of that institution to review the collaboration proposals presented by Cuban Ambassador in Cairo, Laureano Rodriguez, diplomatic sources reported. The ambassador also conveyed his government's desire to develop and strengthen bilateral relations in the health sector, included dissemination in Egypt of proven medicines manufactured by Cuban biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

The ambassador stressed the development reached by Cuba in the sphere of biotechnology, and the production of vaccines and other medicines that could be of interest to Egypt.  Among those products are Heberprot-P, with very favorable results in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers, which has prevented amputations.

Both officials "analyzed the possibilities to establish collaboration mechanisms of mutual benefit to contribute to strengthen the historic relations" between the Caribbean island and this African country.  During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat delivered the Egyptian health minister an invitation by his Cuban counterpart Roberto Morales, to participate in the International Convention Cuba-Salud 2015.
