Santi Spiritus, March 28 (RHC)-- Farmers in the central province of Sancti Spiritus have been benefited with the Brazilian More Food Program, which granted a credit line to increase the production of grains, fruits and milk.

Private workers in the central province are now receiving operational services with new tractors and other agricultural equipment, which helps to reduce costs and increase productivity, said Agriculture Ministry official Juan Jose Nazco.

The project is underway nationwide, said Nazco and now reached Sancti Spiritus particularly in citrus fruit plantations and the development of ranching, as well in other agricultural areas that aim at achieving food security.

The new equipment acquired contributes to the mechanization of the harvests, particularly beans and corn, as well as of watering systems, land preparation and other activities.

Local efforts in Sancti Spiritus focus on the increase of bean and corn production to decrease the large and costly of imports from the world market.
