Cuban Parliament Evaluates the Country´s Economic Performance

Havana, July 15 (RHC) -- Moreover, the Cuban Parliament is evaluating the performance of the country's economic plan during the Fifth session of its Eight Legislature at Havana's Convention Center.

Today's plenary session follows debates during the past three days by the Parliament´s permanent working commissions, in which lawmakers addressed the country´s most pressing problems. They also held a special session to launch the biographical book “Raul Castro: A Man in Revolution,” by Nicolai S. Leonov.

The Parliament will analyze the performance of the state budget for the first half of this year and will approve the implementation of the 2015 budget.

From Saturday through Monday, the 10 working commissions, in the presence of executives and officials of different state entities, addressed ongoing strategic programs aimed at benefiting the people and the economy.

Some of the issues dealt with included the production and sale of construction materials, the housing program, the granting of subsidies and credits to build homes, legal services, the communications and I.T. program for Cuban society and the cultural policy in public spaces.

Other subjects discussed before today's plenary session were the attention and response to the people´s opinions, complaints and suggestions on different sectors and services, as well as the fight on illegalities and corruption in entities or activities.
