Municipal parliament in Santiago de Cuba marks half millennium of the city's founding

Santiago de Cuba, July 25, (RHC), – The Municipal Assembly of People's Power or local parliament in the city of Santiago de Cuba celebrated Saturday an extraordinary session to commemorate the 500 years of the city and honor the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and Cuban president, Raul Castro.

Raúl Fornés Valenciaga, president of the local governing body, said this recognition of Fidel and Raul constitutes a fulfillment of the desire of the people of Santiago, that as their compatriots in the rest of the island, appreciates their commitment to the Revolution and the world's just causes.
